Apex Trader Funding Review

United StatesAustin, Texas Since 2021 Futures only Rebuilt March 2026

Apex rebuilt its entire product on 1 March 2026, so most pages ranking for this firm describe rules that no longer exist. The evaluation is now among the easiest in futures, and the funded account is where the real rules start.

Quick overview

  • Evaluation: 6% target, no consistency rule and no minimum trading days, so it is passable in one session
  • Drawdown: choose EOD trailing (with a daily loss limit) or intraday trailing (no DLL during the eval)
  • Fees: one-time since March 2026, roughly $30–$300 list, with 70–90% off promotions running almost continuously
  • Payouts: automated, no manual review or screenshots, typically 24–48 hours
  • Scale: up to 20 Performance Accounts per trader
  • Rating: 4.3 across 19,155 Trustpilot reviews
Our take

The automated payout system is the real upgrade, with no screenshots, no interviews and no subjective denial. That removed the complaint Apex used to attract. But do not read the easy evaluation as an easy firm. The funded account brings a consistency rule, a sharp cut to contract limits, a daily loss limit, a mandatory stop-loss on every order, and a hard six-payout ceiling. Apex's generosity is real, and it is funded by evaluation volume from traders who never get past that second rule set.

  • Reported cumulative payouts vary wildly across sources, with $378M, $777M and $812M all appearing. All are firm-supplied and none are independently audited
  • Of the 19,155 Trustpilot reviews, 7,887 came from people invited by the firm

What the 4.0 overhaul changed

Apex has rewritten its rulebook several times in three years. This is the current version.

  • One-time evaluation fee with 30-day access replaced the monthly subscription. No resets on 4.0 accounts
  • Consistency moved from 30% to 50% on funded accounts, which is a loosening rather than a tightening
  • Qualifying days dropped from seven or eight to five per payout cycle
  • EOD drawdown added as an option alongside intraday
  • MAE and 5:1 risk-reward rules removed
  • Rule violations are now enforced automatically in-platform, flagged in real time rather than discovered at payout
  • Legacy Performance Accounts bought before 4.0 keep the old 30% consistency rule
  • Any guide describing 30% consistency, eight trading days or the old subscription model is out of date, because those ended on 1 March 2026

The evaluation is easy. The funded account is not.

Consistency ruleNone50%

Contracts (100K)16 minis6 minis
Stop-lossOptionalMandatory on every order
Idle accounts30-day windowActivity rule closes them
  • Contract limits drop sharply at funding, so a $100K account goes from 16 minis to 6. The strategy that passed your eval may not fit the funded account
  • The trailing drawdown tracks both realised and unrealised P&L, so an open winner you never lock in can quietly drain your buffer
  • No swing trading. Positions auto-close at the 5pm ET session break; you can re-enter at 6pm but multi-day holds are not viable
  • News trading is allowed, including holding a directional trade through a scheduled release. Placing opposing orders around a release is prohibited
  • EOD evaluations cost more than intraday, because the floor is easier to manage

Are you eligible for a payout?

Four gates must clear at once: five qualifying days, a $500 minimum, the safety net, and 50% consistency. This checks the two that catch people.

The six-payout ladder

  • Each Performance Account allows a maximum of six payout requests, then the account closes
  • Each successive withdrawal carries a higher cap, so the ladder rewards staying in
  • The safety net , your drawdown plus $100, is a permanent floor that never resets
  • Minimum request is $500, with five qualifying days between requests
  • Consistent performers cycle through evaluations rather than holding one account indefinitely. Budget for that: your real cost is stacked one-time fees across repeated accounts, not a single evaluation price
06

The split question: sources disagree

  • Several 2026 sources state a flat 100% split on all approved payouts, with the old 90/10 applying only to a separate invitation-only live programme
  • Others state 100% on the first $25,000 of profit per account, then 90/10 after that
  • We could not resolve which applies to accounts bought today. Confirm it on the live plan page before you buy
  • Either way it is the most generous split among major futures firms, and payouts are automated with no manual denial gate
  • Performance Accounts are simulated. Sustained consistency can lead to trades being mirrored to a live account via API, and eventually an invitation to a Live Prop Account, which is invitation-only, with no application process

FAQ

Is Apex Trader Funding legit?

Yes. It has been operating since 2021, with automated payouts that removed the manual-denial complaints that dogged its earlier years. Its payout totals are self-reported and unaudited, so treat those figures as marketing rather than evidence.

How hard is the evaluation?

Among the easiest in futures: a 6% target, no consistency rule, no minimum days. You can pass in one session. The difficulty sits in the funded account.

EOD or intraday drawdown?

EOD costs more and is easier to manage, since the floor updates once at the close. Intraday tracks live equity including unrealised gains. For most traders the extra cost of EOD is worth it.

Why does my account close after six payouts?

That is the structure. Each Performance Account has a six-request ceiling with rising caps, after which it closes and you start a new one.

Can I hold trades overnight?

No. Positions auto-close at the 5pm ET session break. You can re-enter at 6pm, but true multi-day swing trading is not possible.

Who should skip it?

Swing traders. Traders whose edge needs large contract size, given the sharp reduction at funding. Anyone who wants one account they can hold indefinitely rather than cycling.

Apex changes its rulebook more often than any firm we track, and the March 2026 rebuild made most existing coverage wrong. Check the current Help Center before buying.

Built PropFirmPrime and the payout eligibility checker on this page.

  • Dated the 4.0 overhaul to 1 March 2026 and listed every rule it changed
  • Compared evaluation rules against Performance Account rules side by side
  • Recorded the contract-limit reduction at funding and the six-payout ceiling
  • Flagged three conflicting cumulative payout figures rather than repeating one
  • Noted how many Trustpilot reviews were firm-invited
  • We have not traded a funded Apex account, so nothing here claims first-hand execution experience
  • We could not resolve whether the split is a flat 100% or 100% on the first $25,000 then 90/10
  • Drawdown amounts vary by size and drawdown type; the checker uses the figure you enter rather than assuming one

Risk note. Performance Accounts are simulated. An evaluation fee is a cost rather than an investment, and Apex's model depends on evaluation volume, and the six-payout ceiling means even successful traders repurchase. Budget for stacked fees, not a single purchase. Rules here change frequently; verified 4 September 2026 and worth re-checking before you buy. PropFirmPrime earns commission on some links, which never changes our score.
